We now use Rockwool Granulated Wall Cavity Fill, which is a CSR Bradford product. It can be used in all wall applications i.e. weatherboard, brick (veneer or cavity), or clad houses. It is silicone treated to repel moisture thus not allowing capillary action or the transfer of moisture to the plaster. Any moisture that may enter the cavity will still follow natural out wards course such as out the drain perps in brickwork. This treatment also allows the walls to “breathe” in that atmospheric moisture that accumulates in the home can still escape through the walls without any problems.
The Rockwool insulation has one of the highest R values of any insulation meaning that even the oldest of homes can enjoy having walls that comply with the latest energy star ratings. (This can also be said for ceilings and floors too of course).
Installing wall insulation in an existing home is a specialist task. Both the wall design and construction material needs to be taken into account. We have a great deal of experience in this field. A careful survey is done to plan the best way to fill the cavity space and after filling via access holes, the wall is returned to it’s proper state. Window Insulation Provides Real Energy Savings
Windows can be the weakest thermal areas of your homes envelope. Therefore it makes sense that it is also an area that, properly insulated, can provide significant energy savings.
Insulation for All Seasons
We use a material that is reflective on one side and black on the other. The reflective side reflects 72% of the heat back out the window when faced outwards in summer. In winter the fabric is reversed so that the reflective side is faced inwards which again reflects the radiant heat inwards and the black reverse side (which is facing outwards now) acts as a passive solar collector absorbing sun rays and radiating the heat into the room. Windows are the weakest link in the building envelope and installing window insulation has a payback time of incredibly just 2 – 4 years. Reflective insulation is up to 10 times more effective than double glazing or low emissivity glass. Whichever way it is placed in the window opening it can be seen through too. The material can be fitted to your windows as Vertical Blinds, Roller Blinds, Holland Blinds, fitted with a magnetic bead or made to fit panels.
